Tigo Ghana was the first mobile operator to launch here, in 1992. Since then, Tigo has developed GSM, 2G and 3G networks and continue to provide services as a dynamic, highly visible brand, actively sponsoring critical social causes and promotional events.


Bharti Airtel started its telecom services business by launching mobile services in Delhi (India) in 1995. Airtel was launched in November 2010 in Ghana. As Ghana’s most affordable telecom operator, Airtel Ghana is driven by the vision of providing affordable and innovative mobile services to all. Airtel Ghana is currently assisting the government of Ghana in the area of education by adopting and running select deprived basic schools in rural communities. The adoption of Himankrom Methodist Primary School in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region of Ghana will provide an improved learning environment for the students through a total refurbishment of the facility, supply of learning aids and the provision of school uniforms and sandals/shoes.
